Rainy Day Musings

It's a rainy day, I'm sitting in bed, and I have a suspected jaw injury.  Typical Tuesday, I guess.

I'm an iphone photog.
This picture is NOT from today; I actually took it way back in November, I think--but it's beautiful and I love the way the rain looks all lit up against the sky.  The streets of DC are so pretty at sunset. That's definitely one thing I'm ready to see again when I go back to school....also my beautiful friends (and the fratstars we herd around). College is an adventure and even though I might have hit a few bumps along the road it's not going to stop me from enjoying every second of the time I have left. (In the words of Will, Dan, Matt, and the rest of Lambda Chi Alpha, "YOLO.") x)
Special shoutout to the other two members of the trio. I can't wait to spend more time with you two ladies this summer. We can throw up our anchors (shhh..in secret) and definitely down some sangria.

I had an amazing weekend all the way out on the other side of my beautiful state...yes, away from the Ocean D: and I simply cannot wait for those wonderful people to come visit me!!! I'm thinking about putting up some pictures (but I'm hesitant because this blog is public and I need to stay employed). But we shall seeeeee.
And of course some fashion inspiration.
I couldn't leave you all without some fashion inspiration, so here's another selection from my massvie library of fashion pictures. (I'm a compulsive iphone photo saver..or at least I was back when I ruled instagram with an iron grip....jokes....mostly.) The black heels dress up the look and add a pinch of sophistication, but this outfit can easily be dressed down with a pair of strappy sandals or pulled into early fall with an oversized sweater. I simply adore this skirt--the asymmetrical hem is whimsical and very in. I also love the choice of a bulky leather satchel; perfect grab bag and it really ties in the darker heels. Note: I would recommend going for lighter leathers with blonde hair and fairer skin.

A little inspiration.

I can't describe how much I love this shade of blue on my nails.
This pearl collar is an adorable way to add some charm to a simple top! It's also a perfect DIY project for a rainy afternoon.
I've been drawing a lot of inspiration from this shade of blue; it's so fresh and girly and relaxing.  I'm absolutely loving it as a nail color....it's been on my nails for the past three of four weeks! xoxo

Mints and Pastels

love the mint and pastel trends that have been showing up this spring.  It's fresh, girly, and so inspiring!

This picture shows off the adorable YSL ring that every girl I know has been drooling over for the past few months. I'll admit that I've been saving up for one of my own (in turquoise, as pictured.) It's a stunning statement piece, and can totally add a bit to a bare hand or play up your arm candy! This picture is actually from one of my favorite blogs, run by two girls I found in instagram. (Lets not talk about instagram...I'm still working on recovering my own hair account from that.)
Here's are some more adorable images.

Gorgeous Blogger Jules did it right with some pastel blue and a pop of neon. I encourage all of you to check out her blog...just google Sincerely, Jules and you'll find it! It's a must see.

I love the edge that a pair of black platforms adds to this look.

Ther writer of Cupcakes & Cashmere looks beautiful in her pink and coarl ensemble; the nude heels add a touch of extra class and keep the look from going over the top.

I'm back....maybe.

I've thought about writing on this blog again.  I think I'll purge all of my old whining and start anew. If anyone still reads this, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dear Everyone,

Here's some interesting news: I have now made my blog private.  Yes, you heard correctly.  Now all the things I post here and all the comments you post here are private to a cozy little group of about 60 people I invited off of gmail.  Feel special.

I have also decided to invite a few people to write articles on my blog....think of them as contributors, or something equally fancy.

This post is a bit boring, but necessary because it's been on my mind for a while that this blog is so 'out there' and easily accessible.  I feel much more comfortable knowing that the information shared here is private between us.

Just trying to keep out the nasties.

Ciao bella!

An open letter to whoever invented mint.

Dear sir or madam,

Thank you.  Your sweet minty creations have given me great joy throughout my adolescent life.  I pray that you allow me to express my thanks for the application of your discovery to the following mediums.
-gum
-toothpaste
-candycanes
-peppermint drops
-peppermint stick ice cream
-breathmints
-lifesaver mints
-minty floss
-york patties
-junior mints
-the organic peppermint cremes I am currently consuming by the handful
-mint chocolate chip ice cream
-mint jelly
-minty cough drops
-etc, etc.

Seriously, thank you.  mint has always been my vice; my favorite of all the flavors.  There's something special about the refreshing taste of a fresh mint in the mouth.

Sincerely,

Molly

EL CLÁSICO

CONTRIBUTOR POST
Post By: Tia

EL CLÁSICO

It’s happening. It’s almost here. One of the biggest events of the 21st century. No, I’m not talking about 2012. Nor am I talking about HAND OUT FREE CHOCOLATE TO TEENAGERS DAY (which I intend to implement once you all vote me as leader of the universe.)

No. I’m talking about El Clásico. El Clásico…one of the most important events in the history of human-sports. For those of you out there who don’t know what El Clásico (shh, it’s okay. Help is coming!), here are three preliminary points you should know.

It’s to do with fútbol (soccer?)

Spanish league fútbol, La Liga, to be exact

It’s the ultimate showdown between the two BEST teams in the league - FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

So firstly - let’s get this out of the way. Where was I born? Barcelona. What’s my favourite sport? Fútbol. So, who do I love? FC BARCELONA. But for the purpose of being nice, I’ll try to write this in an unbiased manner. (Even though we Barcelona fans do run around shouting REAL MADRID SMELLS LIKE BIRD POOP or something of that nature.)

So why is El Clásico such a hullaballoo in fútbol? Like I said, it’s because it’s the two strongest teams of the league. Well, it’s impossible to have two super-giants on one territory getting along fine and dandy...so of course, the two teams have a fierce, blazing, kicking rivalry between them. Which is why seeing them battle head to head is such a big deal.

And it’s not just in sport either. History even shows us of the two cities fighting on nearly everything under the sun. Now, in 2010, it’s rather frowned upon to beat up another city for no reason (wish it wasn’t), so the two cities have learned to channel their dislike towards one another in fútbol, instead.

I’m sure historically, the transition from fighting over land to fighting over sport was a lot more technical, but in my mind, it happened like this.

Old Barcelona Man: Excuse me sir, that’s where I intend to build my future house.

Old Madrid Bloke: No. I’m building my house here and you can’t do anything about it.

Old Barcelona Man: Yeah? I’m stronger and better than you.

Old Madrid Bloke: Then prove it!

Old Barcelona Man: Fine! I shall use my copious amount of pure body strength, agility, control, and all round good looks to show you that I will empower. I challenge you to a fútbol match.

Old Madrid Bloke: Bring it, sucker.

Thus, El Clásico was formed.

Thankfully, El Clásico doesn’t just happen once a lifetime. In La Liga (the league of Spanish fútbol) there are a few of them each season. Monday, November 29th brings us the very first one of this season. So everyone’s going nuts (FYI: Barcelona’s going to win)

So there have been quite a few of them in the history of this lovely sport, dating back from the 60’s even, to today in 2010. Since then, the wins have been even. Real Madrid have killed us, and we’ve turned it round and killed them right back. It’s a fair fight for everyone.

The fate of our lives depends on certain incredible men who are representing their respective cities. So who are Barcelona’s stars? Well, Xavi, Messi, Iniesta, Piqué, Villa, Valdés, and captain Puyol, just to name a few. (Ladies, you may not have any of them as they’re all mine) And who are the stars of Real Madrid? Ramos, Kaká, Ronaldo,Higuaín, Casillas, Khedira, Özil, and Captain Casillas, and while it pains me to admit it, others too.

As you can see, it’s a fair match, it’s a tough battle, and it’s happening on the 29th. So please, everyone, find your FC Barcelona fans and even your Real Madrid ones, and wish them luck. It means a lot to them. (My friends, I’ll buy you all e-ferraris if you hope for a Barcelona win.)

So YES, El Clásico is a BIG DEAL. It’s important, it’s epic, it’s special and most of all, competitive. This Monday brings a whole lot of tension for the two most famous cities in Spain and all their worldwide supporters.

And it’s almost here.

Consider yourselves enlightened.
